Heavy duty van racking system for VW Crafter

Heavy duty van racking is tough kit and exactly what a van user needs when they are working on commercial vehicles. Returning customer who wanted another service van racking build from Van Racking Solutions.

This customer knows what they want so it is a simple process to produce a costed design for them, we check with the customer if they want any tweaks to the design and everything is ready to go!

Products we used for the racking installation

Heavy duty racking needs a heavy duty floor, so a 12mm marine grade replacement floor was the obvious choice for this van racking build. Resin coated with a marble grey finish means it not only looks smart but is also anti-slip and easy to keep clean.

Drivers side racking products

Starting from the bulkhead we installed a case secure system and strap at floor level, which means it only takes a few seconds to clamp tool cases in place, and stored in the upright position, they take up less space.

Open shelving units are one of the most popular racking products we install, with their removable dividers and anti slip mats are a flexible storage solution. The next two levels each get five large lin bins with their recessed carry handles, picking them up and taking them to the job is an easy option.

Towards the rear of the van, we designed an open storage solution with a securing strap over the wheel arch. Five steel drawers of mixed depths provide storage for tools and with their steel ball bearing guides they will take significant weight. There was enough space left in the drivers side racking to add another two levels of open shelving.

Passengers side racking products

Open storage at floor level mirrors the driver’s side. Moving up the side of the van racking next up are lift off the shelf lin bins, which caters for parts and consumables. A side by side combo of two steel service cases and two steel drawers just below a workbench keeps everything in easy reach when doing repair work.
The customer wanted to have the option of trialling the racking configuration before deciding if they wanted extra high level storage fitted. We were happy to oblige so we deliberately left the top of the racking with a simple shelf making it simple to add additional storage.

Van racking accessories for this build include four aerosol spray can holders on the end of the racking unit plus two hose reel holders on the opposite end. We also installed a high level 60 ltr air tank on the bulkhead for a compressor.
