About the project
MAN service van Woods Fleet
This new customer decided to use VRS for their racking installation based on a referral from another customer we have worked with for a long time. The reputation we have built over many years means a lot to us. We are very grateful to DB Auto Assist for that recommendation and, of course, to George from Woods Fleet Support for making the long trip down south to have the work completed by the VRS team.
This racking build has many interesting features, apart from the striking colour of the van, which we liked a lot. The van operator has a large tool chest he was keen to integrate into the design. Measuring 55″ x 40″ x 24″, this was a challenge, but with a bit of tweaking and thinking, our brilliant design team made it work.
Products we used for the racking installation
We started by installing a full chequer plate aluminium replacement floor, this is not only highly visually appealing but also ensures the van will still look good in the years ahead
Drivers side racking products
Starting at the bulkhead, we created the space for the tool chest, which will sit across the bulkhead and pretty much occupy the full width, while allowing enough room to open the drawers. Above the allocated space are four steel drawers, which create storage space for heavy tools and equipment. Lin bins are located above the steel drawers, providing handy open storage for parts and consumables.
Towards the rear of the van is another large open storage space for all those bulky difficult to store bits and pieces, for this build it makes good use of the wheel arch area. Next up are six steel service cases, each case is on its own slide so grabbing a case to take to the job is easy. Each case is supplied with twenty three colour coded mini storage trays, ideal for small parts and components.
Full length and across the very top of the racking on the driver’s side is an open shelf with mats and aluminium dividers, providing flexible storage options.
The end of the racking unit is not wasted space and is the home to a Teal Classic wash station and also the Drakefield supplied DRA03a Trailer Master control unit.
Passengers side racking products
Working vans need space to be able to do repairs, therefore this MAN service van features a full-length workbench with a fitted rotating vice. Below the workbench is a lift up cover which creates a covered storage area. Storing fluids safely can be a challenge so there is allocated space for fluid storage containers housed in a stainless steel tray complete with its own grid, allowing a spillage to be contained. At the top level, there is an open shelf unit, ideal for storing a variety of tools or equipment. The end of the racking unit benefits from a long items holder with a retaining bar and strap.
