About the project

What did the customer want to achieve?

Builders need to carry large bulky building materials, this can often be 8 x 4 sheets plus, bags of aggregate and sometimes even a cement mixer. Problem is they also need to carry other tools and equipment that need a designated storage area and don’t tend to mix well with a few bags of sand & cement! Customer wanted a solution to this as was fed up with everything getting in a complete mess and often expensive tools getting damaged.

What products did the VRS team use to achieve the perfect solution?

The customer liked the idea of having a split floor so we started by installing a 12mm replacement floor in marine grade ply with its resin coating and marble grey finish, its much easier to keep clean plus its anti-slip. We then added two underfloor drawers 950mm deep this provides the storage for tools and equipment, keeping them away from other items in the van. Underfloor drawers are also a great way of keeping expensive tools from attracting unwanted attention when the rear doors are open. Drawers are supplied with removable mats and dividers so can easily adapt to the size you need for tool storage.

Raised floor

The underfloor drawers are boxed in with a natural gap in the middle which is another useful storage area. We then add material to the rear of the drawers creating a tidy finish. The end result is a split level floor leaving the area from the bulkhead completely clear for bulk materials.

Passengers side racking

Customer wanted additional storage so we added open storage area over the wheel arch area with a handy pull down flap. Two wide steel drawers provide storage for smaller tools. A row of lift off the shelf lin bins are ideal for fixings and there was still room to add two levels of open shelving to maximise the storage options.
