About the project
Volkswagen Crafter racking
Volkswagen Crafter racking for a service van customer. Van Racking Solutions is always excited when a customer returns to us for additional vehicles and a new project, as was the case with this racking build. Customer needed to integrate their own compressor and air tank within the racking design, once we have the dimensions of the equipment it is simple for us to place items in our CAD designs to scale, the customer has peace of mind knowing, everything will fit where it should be.
Products we used for the racking installation
We started by installing Polypropylene lining panels on the rear doors, these lightweight and easy wipe clean kits protect the van’s internal panels and provide a pleasing working environment for the user. Next up was one of our 12mm marine grade ply floors, this provides a stable base for the racking units to be fixed too. Resin replacement floors are anti-slip and easy to keep clean; a VRS floor has a marble grey finish so it looks good whilst being tough enough to endure a hard working life.
Driver side racking products
The bulkhead end at floor level is the designated space for the compressor and the air tank sits neatly at top level on a shelf. Space in between is filled with two levels of euro crates, providing ample storage for parts and consumables. The middle of the van has covered storage with some euro crates and open shelving. The rear end of the racking is the most suitable space for eight galaxy cases, these lightweight service cases are supplied with plastic storage trays, colour-coded, so it’s easy to organise small parts neatly. Two steel drawers and covered wheel arch storage, complete the driver’s side racking system.
Passengers side racking products
A handy open storage area with retaining straps kicks off the passenger side at the rear of the van, two steel drawers for tools, and then its open shelf units up to the roof. Covered wheel arch storage with wide steel drawers above, ensures there is plenty of room for heavy tools. VRS drawers are supplied with removable anti slip mats and dividers, if you need to create different sized sections within a drawer it is simple to adjust the space. Above the wide drawers, we added some more euro crates, providing open storage for larger items.
Bulkhead racking products plus onboard power system
No space was wasted in this build with the addition of seven mixed depths steel drawers in a waist height unit, topped off with a workbench surface. Above the working surface is the power management control centre, with a Kisae 2000w inverter, low power protection modules and a 240v socket.
