About The Project
VW Crafter modular racking system. We are often asked by a potential customer if we can find space in their racking build for their own equipment. The answer is usually yes, as long as we have the dimensions we show them to scale in the drawings so the customer knows everything will fit ok. For this installation it was a tool chest and compressor the customer wanted space for.
Products we used
Drivers side at the bulkhead end was the requested site for the compressor. We designed this in and then built the racking around it leaving plenty of space to access the compressor for servicing. Above the equipment there was still room for an open shelf, at top level another shelf with three large Euro crates for storage. Working towards the rear of the drivers side is open storage at floor level with a useful drop down plinth. Moving upwards from floor level are two service cases on slide out trays. Two levels of lift off the shelf lin bins takes care of the smaller parts and consumables storage. Three levels of open shelving complete the racking for the drivers side. Drop down vice and cable holder are positioned on the end of the racking, ensuring no space is wasted.
Passenger side has floor level open storage with a drop down front plinth, handy storage space for equipment. Two more service cases and a large covered storage area are next. Ten lin bins spread over two levels of shelving provides a total of 20 lin bins in total for the build. End of racking on off side gets two strips of cargo rail to secure bottles or other difficult to store equipment.
Bulkhead on this build is the home for the customers tool chest with a simple unit over the top that provides a workbench surface.
