What the Client Needed
Advanced Power required a compact support vehicle that could carry electrical equipment, tools and installation components without creating clutter inside the load area. To achieve this, we developed a VW Transporter racking layout that prioritises organisation, accessibility and efficient use of space.
Rather than filling the van with dense storage units, the design focuses on practical shelving and clearly defined storage zones. This approach allows technicians to locate tools quickly while keeping the interior clean and easy to navigate.
The completed conversion gives the Advanced Power team a dependable service vehicle that supports day-to-day electrical work across multiple sites.
Advanced Power approached us looking for VW Transporter racking that would support engineers carrying tools, connectors and installation equipment for electrical service work.
The vehicle needed a layout that kept smaller components organised while also providing space for larger tools and materials.
Key design priorities included:
-
Clearly organised storage for tools and installation equipment
-
Dedicated bins for connectors, fittings and small electrical components
-
Shelving that allows quick access from both the side and rear doors
-
A tidy, professional interior suitable for day-to-day service work
Together, these requirements would help technicians keep equipment organised while maintaining an efficient workflow on site.
What We Did
To begin, we created a racking layout that separates tool storage from small parts organisation. This approach allows technicians to locate equipment quickly without searching through mixed storage areas.
Next, we installed modular shelving, drawer units and removable parts bins to create structured storage throughout the van. Finally, we ensured the layout maintained open floor space so engineers could move freely when loading or unloading equipment.
The result is a VW Transporter racking system designed specifically to support the working methods of the Advanced Power team.

Offside Racking
The offside installation features a shelving and drawer combination designed for everyday tool storage. The shelving provides clear space for larger equipment, while integrated storage compartments keep smaller tools secure during transport.
Because this section sits directly beside the sliding door, technicians can access frequently used items quickly when arriving on site.
Nearside Racking
On the nearside, the racking focuses on small parts organisation. Rows of transparent storage bins provide clear visibility of connectors, fixings and electrical components.
This arrangement helps engineers locate parts immediately, which reduces downtime and keeps installation work moving efficiently.

Rear Access
At the rear of the van, the layout opens directly onto the main shelving units and parts storage areas. This positioning allows technicians to retrieve tools or equipment without needing to climb inside the vehicle.
Because both sides of the racking remain visible from the rear doors, engineers can quickly identify the equipment they need before starting work.
The End Result
This VW Transporter racking conversion provides Advanced Power with a compact yet highly organised service vehicle.
With structured shelving, dedicated parts bins and accessible tool storage, the van now supports engineers with faster equipment access and improved organisation during electrical installation work.
The finished setup ensures the Transporter remains tidy, practical and ready for daily service tasks.
The Products We Used
To complete this VW Transporter racking installation, we selected modular storage components designed for durability and efficient organisation. Several key products help create the structured layout and accessible storage system used throughout the vehicle.
